Carrying Out Your GAME Plan

What resources will you need to carry out your plan?
To carry out my GAME plan I will need colleagues (the group of teachers that will be working with learning new technology) , online tutorials, and video examples of technology.

What additional information do you need?
I need the information from my district with the required lessons to complete the tier 2 technology integration classes.

What steps have you been able to take so far?

I have been able to take my lesson plans and add technology to one lesson this week to enhance student understanding in the content area of social studies. As well has set up times to collaborate with colleagues and complete the different online classes to address story mapping, power point, excel, and google earth.

  1. I think the steps that you have outlined show a direct correlation to your GAME plan. In adding technology to your current lessons will definitely help you to meet your goals. By so doing you are able to see what works and what you may need to modify for the next lesson.

The other area is getting the other members of your staff on board as there is power in numbers. This will help to get everyone on board with using technology.

  2. Dear Danika,
I agree with you that finding support from staff is vital to these GAME plans. I read your earlier posts about assessments. In the art room, because there is not sufficient time, (9 week quarters) to feed them tons of vocabulary and or artists, I rely on reflections for assessments. That is an area that I still need to perfect. Above all, the students are learning and their critical thinking skills are being turned on. Do you come across this in your class? Do you use rubrics? I know an art teacher that has her students fill out a rubric for every art project. I think she should have them write a short reflection for one assignment, or simply speak about it in a group discussion. The later is easier said then done in a middle school class. Great posts. I enjoyed them and I know you will find success with them.

  3. Danika,

To build on what Victoria said, would a VoiceThread be a good option for assessment? That way you would have a record of the class "discussion" should you ever need it. I would think that a discussion board would serve the sae purpose.

  4. Victoria,
It is very hard for students in my class to use critical thinking skills. I use rubrics with major projects and math problem solving. My boys are kids that need and crave constant adult attention and are still working on believing that they can come up with an answer instead of always looking to the adults.
